Hi, welcome! Do you have any leather working experience? If not, a great place to start is Tandy Leather. There may be one close to where you live. They have beginner classes and can recommend the starter tools. ;-)

Look at the drop down box under your name at the top and it has gallery in there. When you get to your gallery it has several places that say 'upload.' You may have to make an album first.

Finally the knot in my stomachache is going away, slowly...Daughter had her surgery last week (being awake loads of time) and they got everything visible away of the tumor from her head. Now we are just waiting on the MRI and pathology results. Mama is a very happy camper right now:-) I would also like to Thank each and every one here for all your support, it means a load to me.

I have come across a Singer 29 K 4, that has been motorized, does anyone have any thoughts on this machine? being motorized is this a blessing or is it a NO do not do?

The price is real good and I am considering buying it, if I get some feedback via Leather workers, thanks Gainesvilleman...

stealfdawg there is only one product to use for lacing a motorcycle seat. Kangaroo lace....Its tough, and is hard to break.

David your work is what inspired me 3 1/2 years ago since then I have used goat lace very successfully, thanks for the response. The idea was mostly for a different look on my seat, since the 10th I have changed my mind and am going to stitch the seat instead of lace it. It will be my first stitched seat. Thanks again.

I found an industrial sewing machine with a very low price. The seller tells me that it is a DURKOPP Adler and goes on giving me photos, model no as well as a serial number. However I couldn't find any machine which goes by that name matching the mentioned model. The limited information on the net makes me believe that it is rather a RICCAR make please help me!
I am in urgent need of an industrial sewing machine and I don't want to make a mistake, given my limited resources.....

At this time I do not have a sewing machine but I am looking for one. When I was in my teens and early 20's I had use of several industrial sewing machines that were in my father's business these machines were from the early 30's and 40's they used for the textile business and were good for sewing heavy weight wools and leather but they were sold when the store closed in 1990

Rawhide will shrink if it gets wet and dries out won't it?

Rawhide can get saggy and stretch if it gets wet, and re-tighten as it dries--but maybe not as evenly. It can also smell when it gets damp or wet.

Yea looks ain't everything so probably not going that route any longer I'm sure I could sno seal the raw hide and it would be fine but. ..
