Welcome to Leatherworker.net!

I hope you folks drive this board hard...I need to see what works and what doesn't. Please post, add attachments and let me know if the email notifications are configured correctly.

Thank you!

Your site was mentioned to me in a email message it was recommended I check it out. I think this has all kinds of potential and might be better - in the long run - than yahoogroups. It's nice to see something fresh on line.

I visit several metalworking and knifemaking forums, one of which has a leatherworking area, and this format is so much nicer and easier than yahoogroups/email. Hope others check it out and contribute.

There is a lot of crossover between leatherworking and woodwork, smithing, knife-making, etc. I hope everyone invites any groups or individuals that they think might be interested in leatherwork.

I can configure things just about any which way, so let me know what changes you would like to see, or how I could make things easier to use. Did I miss a topic you are interested in?

TIA

OK, well I'm wondering if you could change the post-editing ability. Apparently right now there is a limit to this feature. . . if you wait a day or so (or however long) you won't be able to edit your post.

If, after making a post, I see something minor that I'd like to add or otherwise change, a lot of times I like to just edit my old post rather than double-post.

So if that's something that could be modified, it'd be great! :)

Thanks

The way the board is set now, any changes (edits) to a post must be made by the original poster or a moderator. If less than 3 minutes has passed, no "edited by..." statement will appear. A post can be edited by the original poster for 2 weeks, then a mod or admin has to do it.

Here is another neat feature of this board. Say there is someone you don't ever want to see posts by. Click on their name which brings up their profile. Under options select "ignore this user". As long as you are logged in, you will never see a post from that user unless you change the setting for that user in your Control Panel. You can also add your friends to your buddy list.

Hmm. . . well, (for example) how can I edit my post above yours (I made it fewer than two weeks ago ;)). It does not have an "edit" button anywhere (as this post will have right after I post). . .

Screenshot- created new identity. Bottom right- "edit post button" when clicked, will give you two options- quick or full edit. If you used images or emoticons, choose full edit, if it's just text a quick edit will do. I'm off to find out why it said "edited by" so quickly- not supposed to do that! grrr

I'm starting to work on the other side of the site. It will feature categories of leatherworkers, and people who are available to hire for leather jobs. If you would like to be featured, please let me know. I want to make separate pages for every interested leatherworker that shows their work, a brief bio, contact and website info etc and then list that leatherworker under the categories they choose. The search engines will easily find this site, then visitors will browse just to see the pretty pictures, and maybe your business will get more interest and traffic? If you want to be included, drop me a line or reply to this thread.

Also, in order to keep the site "family friendly" for the search engines, we have a hidden "Adult Only" area with tattoo and biker flash, kinky stuff and any off-color jokes anyone wants to share. If you want access, just let me know. The ordinary guest won't be able to see that forum, and the posts won't show in the search function unless the member who is logged in has access to that area. If nudity offends you, then just disregard this whole paragraph.

I am also making a pattern gallery for registered members. I have a ton I can scan and upload, but you might have something better or more interesting. If you would like to share, you can email me

johanna@nktelco.net (don't any of you folks use your email addy in posts or you will be spammed like you never have been spammed before!) and I will add it.

I hope you folks are having fun with this forum, and please let me know what we can do to improve it.

I have also looked around at other forums, mainly knife related, and some have leather stuff...but this site is far superior I believe.

I was asked to tone it down at a Yahoo site because I mentioned that Tandy's dobbers were falling apart on me while I was using them....

But hey, what do I know??? I know what I like, that's what...keep up the good work, and I'm enjoying "exploring" this site.

Johanna...Please do them in PDF format. That way when we go to print them off they will be true to size.

Johanna,

Great work on getting the site back up.

I went to up my donation through the subscription button, but got a message from paypal stating that there is a problem with the linked email address for donations.

Five minutes later I clicked on the link at the bottom of one of your posts in this thread and made the donation.
