G'day,

A mate told me of this site. Great stuff you have here!!!

I'm from Queensland Australia interested in whipmaking, rawhide braiding and harness work .

Hoping to pick up some tips and maybe pass a few on .

Welcome to the forum Chris, good to have you here. Yes I agree with Roo, you have some real nice looking stuff on your website, and a fine looking site as well.

Just one question though, what's a "banana bender"?

Ken

Thanks leatheroo & Ken

Glad to be here. Have been browsing in here all afternoon. What a place to get some inspiration :clapping:

A banana bender is a name given to folks that come from the great state of Queensland, there are a few others, this is one of the polite ones ;) .

Cheers

Chris

Banana Bender?!?!?!? In Darwin they used to use the term Cane Whacker but they're Yabos for the most part. HA!

Welcome to the site. I went to yours and was amazed at your skills and the ability to take something quite functional and turn it into a work of art. You are truely an artist.

Hello and welcome, another Aussie here bewdy!! I am in Victoria and work with roo.

Had a quick look at your site. Have you taken over the mag that Ron Edwards used to edit? I was wondering what would happen to it. Glad to see it will continue.

Hi kanga

Yes, I have taken over the role as editor of the mag. It is the one thing that keeps the APWA going.

A lot of people were worried that the Association would fold with Ron's passing but we already had things set in place to keep it going and growing .One of which is the new website www.apwa.org.au .

We have a whole new Excecutive committee that are all looking forward to keep things moving.

Cheers mate

Chris

That's great news about the mag and the association, I am so glad it will continue.

Hey, can you still buy those beautiful enamel badges for the Plaiters and whipmakers assoc.? I was a member several years ago and kept asking about them but they didn't have any at the time.

Just before Ron died a friend of mine posted him some of his work and it went in the mag. "The Kite Reduction" Ron called it.

Hi Linda

No Mate the enamel badges cannot be bought anymore. Gee that was a while ago when they were made, sold out pretty quick if I remember. We are looking into getting some more belt buckles done maybe we could get some more badges done at the same time. The one I had got stolen so I'd lke to get another. There are still plenty of cloth badges left though. Have to bring that up at the next meeting.

I hope you will renew your subscription to the APWA this year.

Cheers

Chris

Welcome deadringer.

It's good to have another friendly here.

You'll find it quite easy to both pick up a wealth of information and pass along what you already know, as someone is always asking a question.

Cheers from Canada.
