It's breast cancer awareness month..

As I've said before, I work at a hospital. It's actually the leading medical center in the area, with a state of the art breast center, with digital mammography, holistic healing, etc. My wife is a breast cancer survivor, and I'm thankful every day for the people who saved her life. I make pink ribbons from my scrap all the time, sell them and donate the money to b.c. research. This year I thought I'd do something different, and made this purse. I've donated it to the hospital, and they're raffling it off. Nothing spectacular, just an adaptation of an old Tandy pattern, used the last of my black Pro-Dye, and pink acrylic paint. Finally, Ladies, please do your self exams and get your yearly mammo's. And Gents, please encourage your significant others to do the same. Early detection saves lives, and I'm happy for that every day.

I've been drawing and redrawing a design/logo for a notebook for my wife. She's been fighting it for ... coming up on 5 years now. She's on the winning side of the stick just can't seem to get it all gone. As long as she's in the air i breath , i'll take it. I rather her/us living with it then dieing from it. From all of us under this roof in Texas... Thank you !!

You're quite welcome, Kate. The raffle started last thursday, and by friday afternoon, the total is $455 raised. And a few job prospects, so it's win-win...lol. Freak, you're quite welcome too! The projects mean more when the motivation comes from the heart, I think. I've been knocking this idea around since LAST october, and finally got it done last wednesday. I'm amazed by the response. Give your wife an extra hug tonight, ok?

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you who are fighting this or supporting someone who is. I have a grandmother who was a 55 year survivor, an special aunt who is, my mother will be on chemo for the rest of here life, but is holding her own. A special prayer for everyone who has lost someone to this. I look forward to the day when a guy doesn't go home and stamp out the guest book for his wife's funeral. There's a reason for a lot of pink shirts at our house.

Big AlC, To follow up on your suggestion and drop a challenge to everyone. We could have a raffle here easy enough. However you have planted a seed to have a bigger vision. What if each one of us made something and donated it to a local or regional cancer fundraiser? We could multiply a single fundraising effort 3000 or more times. Think of the impact there.

Well, the drawing was this morning, and after only a week or so of selling, $700 dollars was raised! Gonna get my butt in gear early for next year, imagine what a whole month could bring. The lady that won it was VERY happy, so it was a good day.
