    Quik Slik

Does anyone know if Quik Slik brand was sold at the Sheridan Leather Auction? And will it be available in the future? thanks,
  2. Selling a Weaver strap cutting machine, purchased last July. For pick up in the Sacramento, CA area. Have extra blades and spacers, $800.00 thanks.
  3. I would have to second the new Artisan 335 B, I visited Artisan on Saturday and was all set to purchase the Toro 3200. Jerry, asked me what I woudd be sewing, I said mostly handbags and belts. Anywhere from 2oz to 14oz, using 69 to 138 thread. He thought the Toro 3200 was way over kill for my purpose. As I brought samples to sew, the 335B worked very smoothly with my light weights as well as two 7oz belt leather sewen toghther. I truyly got a machine that really fit my needs, the operation was nice and smooth, and I saved about $500 from the Toro. I bought the roller edge guide, which worked great, it also folds up away from the work area when not needed. I bought the U table, so when I need the cylinder arm I am able to sew handbags. Also got the attachable work table when I want to sew liners. All in all a really great machine for my needs, and I really appreciate Jerry taking the time in finding the right machine for my needs, as well as coming in on his day off to meet with me. Will post an update at a later date.
  4. forgot to mention, I currently have the Weaver crank, but now that I am making a lot more straps. I need to have more control of the side to have straighter cuts by using both hands,
  5. Seems like the cowboy has a few features the Cobra does not have like the light and the foot pedal?
  6. I had a reply from a vendor, they had 14oz cow skirting leather, which they were calling bull hide leather. They said that it was the same just a difference of the terms. Nor sure about that, my sense is that bull hide fibers are more dense than cow, agree or disagree?
  7. Hi, has anyone had experience with the Cowboy strap cutter?
  8. Trying to decide between the Cobra 14 inch splitter and the Artisan 20 inch LS 1020, both are about the same price. Anyone have experience with these machines? Any comments would be appreciated.

    Bull Hide

I am looking for heavy Bull hide leather, 12/13 oz. Hide house discontinued the extra thick Bull hide, and I am having a hard time locating a source. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. Hi I work a lot of buffalo, what works for me is some quikslick from Sheridan. apply and burnish with canvas. You will not have the same shine as Veg tan, but a nice sheen and the fibers will lay down. Hope this helps. Michael
