Consew 206R (Not Cp206R)

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I was looking on Craigslist and I came across a posting for a Consew 206R. The picture looks exactly like a 206RB so it's not the portable Consew but I've never heard of a 206R, only 206RB. I spoke to the owner in case there might have been a typo in the add but he assured me that it was a 206R. Does anyone have any information on this particular head? Is it the same specs as a 206RB? Any more details on this model number would be appreciated. Thanks.

Andrew

If is not the CP206R, it must be a 206RB-something.

That's what I thought but the owner assured me that the label reads "206R"...

I've wondered about this too - I've had two of these machines, the plate on the front of both of them said "206R" but the manuals that came with both said "For 206RB and 206RB-1". The "R" is usually for reverse and is in this case I'm sure. With Consew the "B" often stands for binder attachment (though my 206's didn't come with any special binder features). I have a Consew cylinder arm machine who's designation is "RBFS" and is a Reverse Binder Feed Synchronizer system. So, not sure what the B is for on the 206's but I also believe they are the same machines too.

Since you've owned these machines can you confirm whether the specs are the same as the "RB"s? Do they take the same feet, have the same foot lift, etc...? Thanks.

I'm saying I BELIEVE they are the exact same machines as the RB, if there is a difference I don't know what it would be. I can tell you though that they DO indeed use the same feet, as any 206 machine is going to use the same feet as the Singer 111w*** machines, which is what they are a copy of. That portable version that was mentioned earlier, the CP206R will share the same feet as a Singer class 16 or a Consew 18 walking foot machines. HTH.

I think I can recall some Consews being labeled as 206R, without the B. R is for reverse, B is for big bobbin, and FS is for the binder. But, as all said, a Consew 206 series all use the same big bobbin hook, and all have reverse.

I do not know these Consew 206 machines, however the head look more like a copy of a Pfaff 1245. Different faceplate and stitch regulator, nevetheless same head shape. The Pfaff 1245 is one of the best machines ever made, a very popular upholstry class clone model.
