Minimalist Tri-Fold Wallet Uploaded

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just saw this wallet advertised and it caught my eye.

http://www.trihold.com/

I started thinking how I would put something similar together and I came up with the following design and pattern.

Free to anyone who wants to use it. The pieces are pretty easy to cut out so I wouldn't think you'd need to take the file to a large format printer like the others but, if you feel the need, the printed size is 24x18

Have fun!

Thanks for sharing this.

Just a quick question. Do you know why they chose to leave the one end open? I'm not sure why you would do that.

Not certain either but I'd bet it would be because if you closed it, the wallet wouldn't fold properly

Actually, I'm making one this weekend. I'll upload pics when I do.

As an engineer, I just naturally have a bend towards seeing how things go together and putting together plans. So, when I see something that's interesting, my mind starts to tear it apart until I can figure out how it was built. Once that's done, it seems a waste to not put together plans and share them,

Thanks for doing the plan... I look forward to seeing your build.

What drawing program are you using?

The pattern worked very well. I used 1-2 oz veg tan but find it a bit thick when folded.

Sorry I used links I couldn't figure out how to just put pictures.

I made one like this (this was my practice piece) for a guy a few years back. His just like it was literally falling apart. His daughter had got it for him 30 or so years earlier, . . . overlook the obvious errors, . . . again this was not a finished piece, . . . just a few pieces of leather hacked out to see how it would go together.

Got a note from him a couple weeks after I sent him the wallet, . . . he was thoroughly pleased.

No, . . . don't expect to see a return customer for this one.

My next wallet will probably be this also, . . . soon as I wear out the one I have.

May God bless,

Dwight

Nstar you answered a question I had. I looked all over thee site and couldn't find out where they were made. They have a contact email but no address. Their return address states such things as 'you must ship to the address on the RA because it may be different than where the item shipped from but never mentioned a country. Since you were approached to make them in the USA I guess I was right about them being Chinese. Maybe it's a new trend starting....insourcing. Or maybe they want to say they are made in the USA. Anyway I hope it works out for you. Cheryl

No Mike probably not. You don't want to make a bed you might not be able to get lout of later. I think the product is ok but just gimmicky and I don't think people will buy 200 a day, or a month for that matter one the phase passes. I'm not surprised you didn't get a response. Probably as soon as you said you didn't want to use a filler you lost them. They'll find someone in the US I'm sure that will make them AND will use a filler to make their margins even higher. I'm sorry you didn't get the job but glad you didn't compromise. We have enough Chinese Veneered leather junk here already. Cheryl
