Another Bracelet

Recommended Posts

Here's another alamar type bracelet I made up. I like this one even better than 2 4 plaits, but of course it's more complicated than 2 4 plaits. verysmallalamar.jpg

Your transitions between the 8's and fours and the buttons are perfect looking. Very nice.

I love the colours too.

Of course it looks a little tight, But I assume thats just otu test picture on you and the customer is smaller or it's meant to be that tight.

Thanks!! Someone here posted a real simple way to transition. I swear if it wasn't for the core needed for the 8 plait I wouldn't have had to use the gaucho button to cover it at all, unless I wanted to of course.

Actually it's not tight at all. It fits me perfectly. Maybe it's my old hand that makes it look that way...LOL. I like using my daughter to model the bracelets that need it but she wasn't around. LOL

Very nice design, does it keep it's shape well?

Yes! I've used this same knot on key chains and 4 plait bracelets and it holds well.

I was wondering, on this bracelet and any braided item that requires a "covering knot", are the spanish ring knots, pineapple knots, gaucho knots, etc. able to move about on the braid or are they anchored in place? If anchored are they glued or is the tightning of the knot enough to secure it in place?

On this size of plaiting there really isn't any problem with the buttons sliding so they are just tightened. The change in plaiting also offers some security as well because the leather isn't completely smooth. Longer knots are also not as prone to movement. 4 plait can be a problem with sliding buttons; however, you can slide your lace through the plaiting before making the knot. You can also interupt the actual plaiting with a terminal knot. I'm sure there are other ways I haven't thought of.
