Here is one of the new logo seats with a little hand stitching and some lace and grommets for extra interest on an otherwise boring seat.

I think it looks nice. One thing i've wondered about the lacing up front. Is it fuctional or just to look pretty?

me, too? I think the seat you said "the boss rejected" had the lacing over the logo? Other than that, it was totally awesome! Killer work. Makes me want to buy a bike just for the seat!

I like it!! I like the grommets. The lacing is tight!!! And I really like the way you shadowed PUNCH!

The lacing on the "nose" of the seat is strictly for looks. The lacing over the name on the other seat was strictly for revenge....ha ha just kidding. I rather liked the lacing that overlay the double "L's" .... Obscuring part of the name is the latest design quirk in magazine art. But maybe thinner lace would have been more appropriate.

Nice work as usual, Dave.I don't know why they toned down their seats maybe for brand recognition? I do know the motorcycle market is experiencing a correction and is getting tighter. H-D just shutdown their plants for a week to try to get rid of some old inventory.

Dave, the lacing, carving, and coloring are GREAT. I especially like the front lace with grommets.

I'm wondering though, did the idea come from your subliminal mind...it kinda makes it look like a BOOT....to KICK at the Boss...

Ha ha hey Ken,

Very appropriate....I don't think I was going in that direction when I did the front laces.....but now that you mention it....just kidding.

The "boss" has good intentions, it is just that sometimes he seems to leave his taste in his other pair of jeans. Once again just kidding. He is very tied to the "old school" look. The problem is .... what is old school? It is a very difficult thing to define. It depends on a couple of things.....

1. How OLD are you? Believe me, old school isn't the 1970's-1980's if you are 60 years old. I know a lot of bikers who think that a bike isn't old school unless it has a knucklehead engine. For others it is a Panhead engine. For SPS it seems to be the Panhead/Shovelhead era. But what kind of artwork is suitable for that era? That question leads to the second thing.

2. The second factor is where do you live. Regardless of the time frame, old school means different things if you live in CA. as opposed to NY. In some instances it even means different things if you live in different parts of the same general area. For instance NYC as opposed to the Jersey shore. Those folks were doing entirely different things back "in the day". I've done some killer drawings trying to dress up the logos a bit but everything gets a thumbs down....so I'll stick to doing a little extra stitching and lacing to try to salvage a custom look.

DJc

The pan is a West Eagle. The padding is closed cell neoprene from Foam and More.

Ross,

I wish I had a machine. It is all hand work.

Thanks,

Dave Theobald
