TomSwede Report post Posted January 20, 2008 It sure gave a nice rugged look to it and I like the style on the edges aswell. I used Fiebings red oil dye and carefully touches with spiritbased black on top and over that a new layer of red with a small piece of sponge. The black dissolves a little bit and can then be pushed around a litttle bit with the red sponge to (hopefully) achieve desired effect. I used this for the letters on a black bootstrap. The desired effect was to get the red letters to look dirty and greasy (mechanical workshop style). Tom Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

What tools do you use inlay your letters or are they painted on? Your handcuff case looks pretty good. My only advise is to stay away from spring clips on holsters, sheaths, and case type items like your cuff case. The clip will eventually loosen up and when you pull your cuffs from the case, the case will come off your belt with the cuffs. It's kinda tough to speedcuff the desperado when that happens or you reach for your cuffs and their not there. I used to build my pocket knife sheaths and inside the waste band holsters with those spring clips. Randy I use some fonts I have on my computer for the lettering, and alter them as I need to (add a bit here, take a bit from there, etc) I print, trace, carve and bevel....then dye/paint. I'm keeing it fairly simple.........for now, at least. Yeah, I was debating between a clip and a belt loop attachment, but.....the one I used on that case was the same type some of my buddies on the PD had used for years without problem. I have been making cuff cases similar to the one you made there for a couple years. I must say, I do agree with Randy C on the clips, if someone just had to have a cuff case to go on and off the belt, you could try pull the dot snaps. My suggestion (if you want to make some quick sales) is show that case to local law enforcement and you're guaranteed some orders. Not many LE supply companies sell cuff cases like that that go on 2.25" duty belts and cops love em!! And since I am such a nice guy I will show my other hot seller; it's a case for a large SL-20 type flashlight. To give some insight as to the size, the cutout is from a 1.5" strap end punch. These cases allow you to wear a light your entire shift and never have to take it out and it eliminates slapping you in the when you run unlike those stupid rings. Pictured left to right is a Stinger style flashlight case, cuff case, silent key keeper, Razr phone case and the Sl 20 light case. I appologize for the picture quality.
