Eeww! What With My Glue?

I'm a noob and recently started on leather craft, So all the gear I have is about month old and tonite while working on a mask for Halloween I reopened the Tandy can of contact cement and the built in brush is covered in spots of rust, Is this normal? If not what did I do.

I remove the brush inside the can as soon as I get the glue. Haven't noticed any problem with a little rust, it does discolor the glue a little.
