Missing Strap Report post Posted August 16, 2011 I am using latigo on straps that see alot of outdoor wet weather. I need to split it, but am concerned it will lose some of its resistance to weathering due to the removal of the darker flesh side that appears to provide this resistance. I would assume that the oils impregnated in the tanning process are throughout and hopefully give that protection, but I am not sure and thought I'd ask. I don't want to shorten the life of the straps by splitting if that in fact will happen. Of course, I know care to the strap is always recommended with oiling and such.
