Need Mc Clellan Saddle Makers

Recommended Posts

Is anyone interested in making some Mc Clellan saddles for a reenactment group?

This group contacted me today, but frankly I am booked up right now.

They are looking for the 1872 design, for a group that would be doing parades and such I believe.

They need between 5-10 saddles, built as historically accurately as possible.

Thanks for looking

Joel

They are not fun to make and require a lot of hand work for the amount of payback . Definitely not a high profit item. There is/was a company in Florida (Madison?) that made and restored McClellans, You might try looking them up. If I can find their contact info I will forward it along to you. It is called REM Farm Saddlery. You might also contact Weaver Leather since they sell all of the hardware necessary to build them and may know someone you can contact.

Kind Regards

Blake

I dont think they are difficult to make. I actually depends whether it is a enlisted or officers saddle.

I have already given the internet as source.

I even gave them a web site to get the saddles cheaper than I could make them.

But I told them I would put out a word here and see what happens.

I actually dont have time to make that many saddles, and I actually dont want to make them for personal reasons and the reason Blake states.

So that's where it stands.
