Hi Moody, welcome to the forum! I started a thread a few weeks ago about these trimming knives. I believe that is the "L'indispensable" made by vergez-blanchard (or some other version of it). Here's the link to my thread (ignore the first page, go to the second): Clicker Knife . And here's one place that I found that sells it, where are you located? http://www.decocuir....p?ItmID=9980813

Thank you very much CustomDoug. Last night with some research, using the translator also managed to find several websites that sell this knife. The knive is "L'indispensable" Despite having seen a few variations of the same in some videos. I´m

going to put some links that I found in my search for anyone who is also interested.

I haven't purchased mine yet despite finding the info so many weeks back.. I'd written a couple of places and gotten no response. I wonder which place would be most cooperative to US buyers, any idea?

By the way Moody - this is the knife I like the best, it seems to have a built in scratch awl on one end, which would be real handy : http://www.grassi-fi...sing.php?id=120

I wrote them (translated) and never got a reply. Are you anywhere near Italy, and could forward one of these knives to me (for a commission) ? Please let me know. Thanks ~ Doug

I don´t know Doug. So I started to send emails this morning and so far got no response. But for what I've seen, I think the best option is the Blanchard Vergez since it is the most known. For what I've been watching the prices differ in a few euros, but have yet to do match which is the cheapest with fees and transportation. This weekend I'm going to deal with this and when i know anything I put here the comment.

Me too. I asked if they had the catalogue in English because the German is not my best lol. But so far nothing and have sent on Thursday.

Must sell so much to not even respond to emails

Anyway...

I am sorry. I thought you were talking about the German website. This also pleases me. I´m going to send them an email to ask the price, if they send anything i let you know.

I found this on brasil. Maybe would be most cooperative to US buyers. It is the same that you show to me.

As the language in Brazil is the Portuguese this time I understood everything, but I think for my case should be more complicated with the costs of transport. What they say is: full set, blade, Spike driver and cable with clip blade.

Material: Brass

I am always interested in new items, to me any way. The clicker knives have piqued my interest ever since I watched a video of an Italian craftsman cutting leather with one.

I sent an e-mail to an Italian company for some info on their knives but never heard back from them.

I like the Solid brass idea, don't really care if it has a scribe on one end.

Since I have an ample supply of different species of wood, thought I would just make a handle to my liking for an Osborne clicker blade I have.

Bought the Osborne Clicker with the handle awhile back. Sorry, those of you that like the Osborne tools but this post-15740-0-11726500-1348880582_thumb.j

is a terrible handle for a cutting knife. Cheap Junk pretty much describes it.

This is my handle, made of Cherry Wood and oiled for a finish. post-15740-0-22841800-1348880614_thumb.j and another view. post-15740-0-50122800-1348880635_thumb.j

Not perfect, but it works and is comfortable in the hand.

Moody,

This is off topic but I need to tell you I spent five fantastic days in your country some 57 years ago. Our carrier dropped anchor in the bay. I went on the "beach" every day. Lisbon was the port. We visited Nazarae, the seven hills area, many shops, ate in an outdoor cafe, bought a set of drawing instruments in a shop, I still use them all the time, visited the grounds of "The Miracle of Fatima". Have often wondered if Lisbon is as beautiful today as it was then.

Thanks for bringing back some great memories to an old man.

Good morning. I think the same ferg.I when I saw a lot of videos of Italian craftsmen trimming with the knife, it looks for me ergonomically correct and very pretty as piece. Despite this is the beginning of my career in this area, i have spoken to many people that tell me that the tools are those that fit our hand, they can be tools that were not designed for this purpose. I think it is extremely educator and very interesting talk with artisans of the area, talk with them, share ideas, which makes me become extremely motivated. About your answer. portugal has changed a lot in 57 years, despite i have only 30. I'm not from Lisbon, but from Porto, the land of port wine, which in my opinion is one of the world's most beautiful places because still have that medieval aspect of a city in the downtown , with the bridges designed by eiffel, the port wine cellars, the marginal contact of the River with the sea, I think the city simply fantastic because the people say what they think without problems, very pure. it is less cosmopolitan city that Lisbon. But if you want my opinion, Lisbon still almost certainly have the same charm of the 57 years. The fantastic in portugal is that in 800klm of sea you have a lot of places to discover. You have to come back to portugal but to know other places;) you won´t be disapointed. I have to apologise for my English:)

You certainly have no need to apologize for your English, it is great. We carried a little book of phrases in Portugese. Didn't help me much but we got along.

Ferg, I really like the handle you made in the above pictures - great job. I also agree with you on the big round handles as wrong for cutting, specifically precise cutting. When you watch those European artisans, you can tell they have the knife figured out. I sent an email to the Brazilian company that Moody posted, we'll see if they write back but I'm not too confident that they will.

I got an answer back from the Italian company http://www.grassi-fi...sing.php?id=120, he says he's a retailer (I think he meant wholesaler) and can not sell only one item. I wrote back asking what the minimum quantity is, you'd think he would have said... also, you'd think he would have offered the names of some actual retailers who he thinks might help. If there is any. Bummer.
