Anyone Bought A Used Machine From.... ?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone here has bought a used machine on-line from "USA-Dealer" (.net) or "SewingMachine" (.net) ? Both websites have the same phone numbers, I guess they're one in the same. Just wandering about you're experiences with them and shipping details... as in how well were machine head's packed, etc?

They are basically a drop-shipper. I checked them out awhile back because their prices seemed pretty good and they're local to me. Do a google maps search on the address: 1049 e 32nd st Los Angeles, ca 90011 and you'll see the building. It's in a crappy run-down area of L.A. and the building is in poor repair. The BBB shows them as non-accredited with one employee. My guess is someone bought the business and simply put up a couple of websites to resell & drop ship machines. So the machine will likely show up in a box direct from the manufacturer and not be set-up or looked at by a tech which means either you or a local tech will need to set it up, time it, etc.

hmm, interesting. Not necessarily a deal breaker 'cause I did expect that the machine wouldn't have been gone over. I thought, unless there was a lot of negative experiences posted here that I'd give 'em a call and get a feel for their shipping methods and general trustworthiness. They have 4 of the same models I'm wanting, so I'd have to get someone on the phone to discuss which one would be the best choice (less missing parts, etc). Still, just considering my options though. Thanks for your comments.

This is where I started looking into them back when I was browsing. I called to ask a few questions and the gentleman I spoke to didn't know squat about sewing machines and said they don't have a tech or support staff and that all warranties, questions, etc. should be directed to the manufacturer. For me, avoiding that kind of headache is worth saving the extra money to buy from a real sewing machine dealer/repair shop. Good luck with the search.

When it comes to buying sewing machines from shady eBay resellers, a fool and his money soon will part.

I wonder how much it costs to ship a sewing machine back to China, or Korea, for warranty service?

ebay? are they on ebay? if so, I'd at least have some protection by them and paypal. Been down that road a few times and have always come out on top. Make no mistake, I wouldn't be expecting warranty coverage or service from this place - I understand that the prices don't reflect that kind of thing. Also I doubt I'd have to ship anything further than LA though, according to their policies page anyway. But sewing machines, especially used ones are just a small part of their trading company's business apparently. Heavy equipment seems to be a bigger deal for them. Anyway, the fact that nobody here's used them before speaks volumes. Thanks ya'll.

Very good prices too, on the USA-dealer site they offer an antique Singer 7-57 for b(l)uffing wheels. Your price: Usd 25.000.00. The same price as ten Cobra or Cowboy “441” machines or a nice US convertible set of wheels. :evillaugh:

If you need a used industrial sewing machine, why not call our various member dealers and see if they can help you out, at a price you can afford? Several have used machines.

Yes, I already did that before posting this thread. I just don't like that as my only option. So If folks were reporting positively about this company, it would be a consideration - that's why I asked.
