First of all I want to say hello! My grandpa was a leatherworker, I never got to meet him, but the things he made where all around familys houses for years and I always thought they where awesome! I recently have been bitten by the leather bug. I was messing with some friends tools here and there and really liked it, so i went and bought the ultimate kit from Tandy last week, Ive made two tall/biker wallets so far, and ive had ALOT of fun doing it! I plan to make alot more things and practice alot! The question I have is, when lacing the edges do you finsh (burnish) the edge first then lace it? I dont like how you can see the unfinished edge though the lacing, maybe my lacing holes are to far apart. I would have posted a pic, but i need to figure out how to first. I searched gallerys and how to section, couldnt see anything on that. Thanks in advance for any advise. Eric.

Eric....Welcome to the forum. I not only finish my edges, but I will color them depending on the lacing style. Since I stick mostly to the Spanish Round Braid as my choice, it will not show a bid of leather through, but it is time consuming. Either way, take a look around this site and I am sure you will find a lot of answers to your questions. If by chance you do not, continue to ask away.

As KingsX says, If the style of lacing you do isn't full coverage of the edge you should definitely burnish and finish them.

Basically, you can upload pictures to LW to host, which is what that thread mostly discusses, or you can link pictures from your own host.

If you have your own host, you can link your pictures directly using the little icon above the reply/topic box--it looks like a small Polaroid. Click that and insert your picture's url.
