Rivet question

Recommended Posts

I have another question!

When I'm riveting collars I find it hard to get the rivets straight. I always measure carefully, but somehow they always end up crooked :(

Is there any kind of template you can get or tricks of the trade to help me get them straight every time?

your rivets are probably too long. try the next size shorter.post should be 1/16 " above the leather.

Are you whacking the hell out of them, or are you tapping gently? Other than them being too long (which would be my bet too), hitting them too hard would be my next guess.

Try making the post flush with the leather or not more than 1/32" higher than the hole. Experiment with some scrap leather.
