  1. That's great, ill look into it. Do you know of screws that might be that thin with those heads? This would be ideal and secure. I know of split rivets but it is the banging that gets me, I don't want to scratch the front heads at all
  2. it came from ohion bag and here are the images from the catologo. as you could see 4 holes in the corner and they gave 4 pins like the pic. i can not figure out how the bag end of those pins get secured
  3. I got a brass lock I put to install on a bag made of thick leather. The thing is it came with pins and I don't know how to lock them into place. These are very thin pins so I can't wedge a washer on the other end. I was going to use split rivets but I was wondering how the pins are used Any experience?
  4. i have a weaver 8" splitter. this is my experince and i also have a question to others who use these types of rollar splitters. i used this many times on about 8/9 leather down to about 5/6 with veg tan. if the width is below 2" about the cuts are smooth. meaning if you are cutting a 3' strap with 2" width to 5/6, it begings at 5/6 and ends at 5/6 now, im noticing on some PARTS of the hide, usually but not always the belly, and over about 3" width you will start with 5/6 and end with 2/3 i can not say for sure it is the softer parts because this happens with the firmer parts. I also ntice a lot that this happens more with the bigger widths over 3" ive done so many and i can not figure it out for sure. some times i pull on the feeding ends upwards and might help and cranking faster might help too. i think it comes down to the rollars as the bottom one is on springs and pushing the feeding leather into the top so the crank can push it into the blade. the problem is it is not always a consistant level has anyone figured this out? is it the width, type, parts of leather?
  5. I have to ask another question again, how do you know it is imported HO? If I remember correctly the cat says USA steer leather?
  6. i know that all veg tan darkens eventually but i was looking for, if anyone knows, the same veg tan that tandy leather sells and calls "Eutopean single bend cowhide tooling leather" they say they are Scandinavian hides. When i purchased this the entire hide was almos white, no tan was setting in. in fact i kept it for months and no tan set in as opposed to other tannaries veg tan where slight tan and half the hide was setting in after a couple of weeks of storage. The inside ws "fuzzy" but real soft to the touch. i ask for other sources to this same hide because TL sells this for $180 for 10sq non club prices
  7. when you say right in weaver, do you mean the catlogue? yes, they distingush some leather from HO and Ch, but their are other hides like shoulders and dbl backs that have no brand. when i called them to ask for the brand they said they can not say. i was wondering if anyone has info on those brands in particular. are they chanin?
  8. Anyone Have links? I'm looking for a supplier that has 6oz veg natural tan leather hides. They have to be clean almost white and soft on both sides. Not sides that come darkening.
  9. How do you know they sell chain as theirs? When I ask where certain leather comes from they say they can't say? Any inside info? With w/c some of their stock doesn't seem reliable if buying 1 or 2, you could wait weeks for them to tan a batch. Not good for business.
  10. Do you know which leather weaver makes themselves? What do they call it because they don't advertise it but when asked the source of certain no name leather they say its a secret. I assume its that. Do you know who tans their leather? Is it USA?
