  1. Like you, I'd assumed SAE would be the default and found an earlier leatherworker.net posting that listed 8-32 as the right size. So... assuming that anything that sounds right and is on the internet is correct, I went and bought some without checking further. Oops! The two Tandy knives I have are about 2 years old.
  2. Went looking for the size of the set screw that Tandy uses in their swivel knives, wanted to switch from a slotted screw style to an Allen head style to make it easier to adjust. What I found to my surprise is that it is a metric screw, size is 3mm x 4 mm long x 0.5 pitch. Didn't find this info on the web, called a couple of Tandy stores, finally just went to the HW store and started guessing. Besides changing out the screws in the swivel knives, I also replaced the screw in the Keen Edge sharpener with a socket head screw so that I could tighten and loosen the tool by hand. Since the screw is not in the way, no reason to have to use a screwdriver or Allen wrench now unless things get stuck.
