  1. What part of Arkansas are you in?

  2. All of my saddles are built on Lewis Saddle Trees out of Hereford Tx. I have been using them for about 14 yrs and have not had any problems with them.

  3. I have 200 + hours in that saddle.

  4. Thanks for explaning the saddle construction to the other reader. Thanks

  5. Thanks for the comments. Other was correct. Calf Ropers like latigo on the near side because it is easier to tighten.

  6. This is a stamp made by Barry King in Sheridan, Wy. I use only Hermann Oak leather. It seems to tool the best. Also, If you rubber cement glue your leather to a piece of plexiglass before tooling (DO NOT USE CONTACT CEMENT) it will help keep that crisp look to you stamping. Hope this helps. Make sure your leather is not too wet when you tool.

  7. Hey Justin, I roped calves all my life. I was a member of the PRCA until 2002. Got to old to beat the youngsters. I went to a couple of old timers rodoes but sold all my calf horses. My wife still goes to a few barrel races so we still keep a few young horses around the place. I have been building saddles for about 22 yrs. I enjoy tooling and make about 5 saddles a year and some tooled stuf

  8. OOPs, I meant when my father in-law passed away. He was a cowboy from Hawaii and then an AG instructor at a high school.

  9. Very nice work. I am new to leatherworking and inherited the tools when my father passed away. He was a great man.

I've always loved horses, but never owned one until a few years ago. Now we are about to get our third one! My father in-law used to purchase a basic plain saddle & tool it and add silver from there. I would like to work up to doing something like that too...
