I am a real bookworm, a part-time Author, and SCA Fan.
I started working leather because my brother wanted a special kind of bracers for a re-enactment. He asked me if I thought I could do it for him. I sais 'Why not? I can always try'...I haven't stopped tooling and making since...

  1. Thank you! I was looking for something like this!!
  2. Can't wait to see!! It's always interesting to find new armor patterns Thanks!
  3. I've tried to me the frog (the one with 2 parts and 3 straps) but I can't figure out how to assemble it :-( Maybe adding some construction notes on your future patterns would be good ? :-) Tanks again for your hard work!!
  4. Good to know. I guess that using a resist would help as well, because even with block dying, I haven't near getting such a clear result. I will try with the fiebing yellow and reduce it some, because I agre that the full strenght color looks a lot more like tan than yellow. Thank all for your good counsel!
  5. I need your expertise! What color is this? (ok, I know it is yellow) but where can I get such a bright shade of yellow in dye? I have tried Fiebing, ecoflow, and even the new waterstains from Tandy, but they are all very...darker. My second question is: would I need to block dye with a Brown antique to get this effect? Thanks in advance!!
  6. Thank you for the info Winterbear. I have visited turtle feathers website and ordered some Angélus paint, along with a pretty nifty dye pen! I can't wait for the order to arrive!!!!
  7. Thanks everyone. This is a lot of help! I think I will try with Angélus acrylic since I can order it online. I'm from motréal Québec, and have no clue what Joanns is :-) I'll show you all the result I achieve, all thanks to you!
  8. Oh wow! your work is awesome!!! This is exactly what I'm looking for! What kind of resist do you use? For the white color, do you just use acrylic?
  9. Thanks for your help! I have been trying to find bone colored dye for a while now and all I've found was shoe dye. Did any of you ever tried show dye on a project? Did it come out well?
  10. Hi everyone! I was wondering how I could get a bone color on leather? Color like the pictures show here. I have tried to make a mix with acrylic color and water for a base, but the leather comes kind of shiny and dye applied after the accrylic won't stay. Any one knows what I could use? Thanks!!
  11. Oh very good! Thanks for all your help!
  12. Wow, that's perfect! Can't believe I did not find it. I have been looking fot exactly that for a while...Guess I need to change my glasses, lol Thanks again!!
  13. Hi All! I'm trying to make a hair effect on some carving. I saw a tutorial saying I would need to use a multi blade knife. Where can I find one? Tandy don't have any. Is there another tool I can use to do it? Thanks!
