Hi

I am in South africa and many good brands are not available here or costs hundreds of dollars to import & no spares etc.

What is available is the Kingstar CW8B (specs below)

Does anybody know this machine or brand? Your views?

Would the model below be suitable for work up to holsters?

This machine is equivalent to the Singer 153w-102 should sew about 3/8ths inch thickness. Only half the thickness of a holster

The machine that would do you the most good in your leather work is the KS-420c. It is about the same machine as the Durkopp Adler 370 cylinder arm machine. It will sew 3/4" of material.

I would imagine these machines are from China. I hope that was helpful.

Thank you very much! You did indeed help me a lot. A choice is easy if the answer is a straight "No!" :-)

If it was a maybe there was a decision to be made - Now its easy.

Unfortunately the 420C is about twice my budget. For some reason secondhand machines here is either not available or 90% of the price of a new one.

Perhaps I should go for the Tippmann Boss as I can import that for just above my budget. I know its "manual" but less manual than my current punch & hand-thread method.

If you do know the Boss, please advise on:

1. How tedious is it to work the Boss?

2. Is it any good on thin material as well? (Yea, I know there is no one for all machine, but trying my luck anyway :-)
