Hello from Germany

Recommended Posts

Hello!

My name is Aulus from Wuerzburg, lower franconia (state of Bavaria) in Germany. I´ve been working with leather since 1998. I began leathercrafting to make a belt and a belt pouch for my reenactment Hobby and this will made so much fun to me that startet to learn more abot leather and leathercrafting.

To this time I´ve doing stamped dog-collars and other stuff for our Dog-School and of course stuff for reenactment.

And..ah...hmm..my english is al little rusty...i have to practise.. :helpsmilie:

Welcome Aulus!

Don't worry about your English, you already speak better English than a lot of us!

It's nice to have so many viewpoints here, and the Europeans are becoming a larger contingent.

By your intro, I see that you have over ten years doing leatherwork, so you should be able to share a lot, and hopefully learn a lot here. Post some pictures, because that's what we live for...lol!

Nice, my Wife comes from Arnstein, it´s near Schweinfurt.

And yes, I think I will feel fine here, there is really no real Leatherwork Forum in German, if you believe or not. Only crap. Or I´m too stupid to find it..

If you google a "Lederforum" you will lead to fetish Sites...and thats really not my thing :eusa_naughty:

Hi Aulus,

willkommen im Forum, ich bin aus Wuppertal, zwar von Dir aus nicht direkt um die Ecke, bin aber neben meinen Billardköchern auch sehr am Thema Mittelalter/Reenactment interessiert.

Have fun here, sit down, relax and take a coffee.

Cheers,

Marcel

Oh, its no at Dog-School for State Service, it´s a Club. There are many, many of those Clubs in Germany. But everyone says "Hundeschule" -> Dog School. You can take a look: Our Dog Club / School but the Site is only in German.

I have a Labrador-Retriever, and in our Dog-School ist a group of the German Red Cross at training. Once I made a Muzzle for their training and they asked me if I would come for training. I think I will do that.

Yes, I know. Every town has a dog club and a shooting club and a brewery. I was involved in Schutzhund for many years and visited Deutschland to attend the Deutscheshaeferhunde Siegershau and Bundesleistungs Siegershau. But that was many many years ago.

Ihr Englisch ist viel besser als mein Deutsch, aber ich werde sagen, wir sind sehr froh, dass Sie hier sind.

(Hopefully I said, "Your English is much better than my German, but I will say we are very glad that you are here.")

:welcome: Willkommen, Freund.

Aulus, welcome to the forum from another middle ages reenactor. I make helmets like the one on my avatar, and medieval turnshoes, and sell at various faires. You'll get lots of help around here. I've slowly widened my interest and experience in leatherwork because of this forum. Looking forward to finding out more about you. Got any bigger pictures of your kit?

@Daggrim: I´m sorry, there are a lot of pictures about me, my wife and my friends in the Internet, but only on german sites i know. And there only in Galleries of some Homepages where they describe reenactments. I think you could find any photos in Homepages about merovingian Period because this is "my" time. Our Homepage is down at the Moment and I don´t know if or when we relaunch.

Just look for "Aulus", I think you can find any photos. But not really actual, because my wife had a brain-tumor and we´ve paused for 1 1/2 year.

Here you can start: Pictures I´m the one with yellow trousers and blue Tunic, and red/blue Shield
