Xds .45Acp Magazine Question

Recommended Posts

Like the title says, I need to know if a standard 1911 .45ACP magazine will work when forming a Springfield XDs mag pouch. I have an order for one that's waiting on me to buy a pair of magazines for forming, but I'd rather not buy them if I don't have to.

1911 mag width: 0.540"

1911 mag depth: 1.374"

1911 mag length: 4.572"

XD-S mag width: 0.555"

XD-S mag depth: 1.380"

XD-S mag length: 3.545"

Length measurements taken along the spine of the mag, from top of feed lips to baseplate.

1911 mag used for measurements is a Chim McCormick 8 round Power Mag.

Short story, yes, but watch the length. Personally, I wouldnt go any deeper than the 5 hole on a 1911 mag.

Hope this helps!

Hey Eric. With shooters info you can now cut a cheap wood block/two and not have to buy a real mag. Nice eh??

I really love this place!

Are the angle of the spines the same? Just wondering. Or would that even matter?

Theyre close enough that with a little diamond file work you can make a 1911 mag function in the XD-S.
