  1. Thank you!

I have been away a bit and just popped in.

I see there is a whole new layout. Very Nice!!

Hopefully I will be getting busy here.

    Thanks All

  2. happy birth day.....cave stone fire places on this end ....Doc.....

  3. Oh goody!! The minute I got the "Tandy" information I went looking for one and there is one very close to me. I also had a look at their website and BOY ... I can get into some trouble there! Thanks all for the information!!! Maybe I will at least try to draw and/or cut some patterns this weekend to get my juices flowing. Julie
  4. I belong to another group ... Rock Tumbling Hobby and everyone shares their work and designs and everything else. In the past if I have seen something that really catches my eye, I will try to do it to see if I can. I just want to make sure that if I see something I would like to try, I am not infringing on anyone else or stepping on any toes. I also ask this as if I do make something, I would like to feel free to post it here so I can get critiquing, criticism, and all the help I can use. Thanks Loads!!
  5. I could really use some help. I have leather scraps coming out of my ears and have no clue where to start. In the past couple of weeks, I have tried a couple of what I thought were easy things only to screw them up and get frustrated. I am also the kind of person that needs pictures (visual learner) that go along with the instructions for what is being made. I have looked through a few of the threads and it seems most everyone here is way more advanced. Right now, my tools are limited to a punch, studs, one pair of pretty sharp leather scissors, and that's about it. I need something (a project) with training wheels to do. Thanks All!
  6. The leather bug has bitten me ... but since I am so green .... I do not know where to begin ... Where can I find examples of watch fobs and wristbands? I know how I can draw what I think may be a watch fob or wristband .... but loving rocks .... I am a dork in leather. Also .... where can I find examples of how to make or put together a pouch? I have tried the pouch with my leather punch ... but I keep coming up just off of not being able to pull the jute and it closes! Thanks Guys ... being so green sucks ... but I am determined!
  7. I have leather scraps coming out my ears and am wondering what are some basic projects for me to focus on to get a handle on working with leather. I know that I started this board a bit back, however .... I am just now getting started ... I have an interest in making pouches for polished stones or other items. I am interested in trying to make just about anything. However ... right now my tools are very limited and I really have no idea how to start. All input is greatly appreciated Julie
  8. Hi there all! I am new to any leather working and have wanted to try to work with it ... ie pouches for polished stones, special wrapping for wire wrapped rocks and stones, etc. I too belong to an online rock hobby group ... aka Rock Tumbling Hobby. I have been tumbling since January, have been trying to learn (have not done too bad) wire wrapping, and have recently started working with wet tile saw for rock cutting. Have limited rock hounding experience, but I have developed a love for rocks. It is hard to explain. I have very limited work with leather, however ... I am up to my ears in leather and figure I may as well learn how to work with it. I do have a couple of very basic tools for leather working. I have a multiple tip punch and scissors bad to the bone for cutting leather. I work for a company that manufactures custom, to factory specs interiors for european cars. So I get to take home as much scrap as I an haul. Needless to say, I have leather up to my ears. My pieces are small to medium and every now then and again I get a hide that has flaws too grossly apparent, the hide must be tossed. I want to learn from those that have a passion for their craft .... you guys ... My humble thanks ... as always ... Julie
