Where To Go For Leather

Okay, I've not had much luck, other than with small projects, with what I've gotten from Tandy lately. I'm only talking about leather, because I still shop them for other stuff. I've heard about Zack White, and I know there is a Tandy in the Raleigh region I can visit.

Here's the thing, I want to go in person. I live below Roanoke, VA, and it's too far to Richmond store. My sis and her family are in the Raleigh area, so I'm willing to pay them a visit and shop in that area.

Who to see? Or is there someone who will honestly ship me good leather? Keep in mind I DO NOT have alot to spend, and I don't buy much more than 1 side at a time, if that. I do have a tax id, so I was getting wholesale from Tandy; and Zack White said they'd do the same.

Does anyone here deal with Zack White for tooling leather? I'm needing 4/5 oz.

Well, there's always Wickett and Craig. I have ordered from them with success.

Weaver sells a lot of leather including Hermann Oak, which I know many consider some of the best there is.

Another option that you might consider is Panhandle Leather in Amarillo, TX. They are great to deal with and ship all over the country. They are only 100 miles from me so I get to take day trips when I need leather:yes:. Give them a call and see what they can do for you.

I am the manager for Zack White Leather Co. and we do stock 4/5 oz veg tanned leather. We carry it in domestic and import tooling sides which average 20-25 sq ft. We also carry it in double shoulders and in single shoulders which are smaller than the sides. The doubles run an average of 12 sq ft and the singles are averaging 6-8 sq ft.. I use Zack Whites also. Their domestic tooling sides are better (to me) than Tandy's. Their customer service is second to none!

I buy from Zack White all the time, through the mail, I use their premium bull hide and it tools excellent and dyes the same and it has a very nice pasted back also. Highly recommend. Also get alot of the Hermann Oak sides from springfield, I always call and speak to Kevin and ask him to pick me out what I need, never disappointed

Thanks for the info :-) I found out it'dve been easier to stop at ZW on the way TO my sister's rather than going while I was there (i.e. as a side trip). So that's the plan for the next trip. I've heard many good things about Springfield too...
