A Belt.

Recommended Posts

I been working on a belt for my Pastor. The actual buckle will not be in till Thursday or so. Hopefully I can get side two done before it gets here. This belt is a 1 1/2 inch width and 46 inches long. Whew!

Nice! Modified basket weave?? How do you find it for wear with the braiding around the edges - what I mean is does the braid itself hold up well or might there be some wear issues in the lonnnnng term?

Always amazes me how even some of you folks can get braiding done thumbsup.gif

I wont know about the wearing in part until I have it done and my Pastor has it around his waste. Then I'll check on it in 6 months to see where it is and how it is wearing in. I still have side two to do yet. But it's getting there. It's not a modified basket weave, or the mexican basket weave. It's a 1 to 7 Fast Back Edge braid modified from Ron Edwards original 1 to 8 with compressed ending of a 1 to 5 that I got from my friend Enrique Capone. My braiding mentor wrote the article on the 1 to 7 in the whip makers association publication about a couple of years ago. I got one of the original prints from my mentor.

The belt is now completed and ready for gift wrapping. Tomorrow it goes out to the person receiving it.

Just a gorgeous belt. I like how you are using a vise like that... I've got a stitching pony and usually use that, but the vise sure looks secure! Did you give it to him yet? I bet he absolutely loves it.

i like the pattern. it's not as full s a mexican round braid, but still fills out the edge nicely. i gotta learn how to do that as nice as you did.

Very nice Brian. One thing is to know how to do the 1 to 7. Another is to do it nicely like you have done it. Your pastor is going to be happy. I made a similar one for my wife about 10 years ago and there is no important were on it.

Cheers,

Enrique
