  1. I just finished this one today for my fiance. I used 8oz leather and suede lace for the edges and Chicago screws to hold it all together. On the edges I did a single loop stitch.
  2. I had the same problem with mine. I let it soak in mineral oil for 2 weeks and brought it right back to life. I had quite the argument with the St. Louis Tandy manager over it when I asked her how consistency it should be when it arrived and was told to read the leathercraft manual. I no longer do business with her.
  3. I don't care if it was cold, I wish I was in those pics. That is a beautiful land. Great Pics!
  4. I would seek legal advice either from your business lawyer about a proper waiver of liability to be signed by the customer. This reminds me of the waiver your sign at most tire shops when you have one tire replaced instead of replacing both on that end be it front or rear. It basically states that you have informed the customer of the manufactures' safety recommendation about the risks associated with changing only one tire and they hereby release all liability to the above company and technicians for any property damage, loss, or bodily harm that might occur. Again, proper legal counsel will be able to properly word the language for use in court. Hope this helps.
  5. I needed a creative outlet and an alternative career due to back problems. This allows me to work with a physical medium for my art and make things that I love. I have always loved leather. Now I get to work with it on a daily basis. Since I started with this "addiction" this year, I have decided to pursue more education in Graphic design to help in the design of my pieces. I think the overall best part about the whole thing is, it is something that will allow me to spend more time with my children and pass the art to them. This forum has helped me a great deal in giving me the information that I needed. I am very thankful for everyone that participates here and shares their knowledge and to the folks that keep the site running. Thank you for everything you guys do!
  6. Would cornstarch be an alternative? It might help with the scent issue of baby powder.
  7. I'm probably going to upgrade to Barry's tools as soon as I can afford to. I've been so busy trying to get my shop put together and learn as much as I can before I start making items for the public. It has really eaten away the finances and my sanity lately. I'm just glad that I am not the only one that has had the problem and not just taking out my frustrations on my tools subconsciously. RE: mendedbowl Do your tools every try to reach across the aisle for bipartisanship tooling?
  8. I let it case for 48 hours prior to stamping it, so I think that might have helped a little. It really took the stamping well. I just had a little bit of a problem with the seeder going a bit deep.
  9. Here is my very first wallet. This was my 4th Project and I thought I would share it with everyone.
  10. I was working on a wallet last night with my 24oz maul and my basket weave stamp and suddenly I noticed it was bending. Was I whacking it too hard or is this just the cheap tools Tandy is selling now?
  11. Good Luck!! I hope everything goes smoothly and easily for you.
  12. Thank you Tom! I was just seeing if there were any other places I did not know about. I will probably just end up using Weaver or Tandy as I had thought.
  13. I decided it was best to come to the experts. Where is the best place to get 8-9oz leather for belts for quality and price?
