I just finished up 3 belts for my wife, daughter and myself. (really! I finally get one of my own?) They are all 6/7 backed with 4/5 one is laced and the other 2 are hand stitched. 2 are a light oil finish with tan kote top finish and the 3rd is EF all in one acorn brown with a mahogony background, that one is my first attempt at the sheridan style (my belt, hehe). As always your input on the good and bad and everything else is welcome. so please let me know what you think.

I like your belts!. I really like the one you laced. What lace pattern did you use? looks like Mexican round?

I LIKE IT!

Happy tooling

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your kind words.

I have no idea what its called to be honest with ya. I just tried to copy the weave on the belt I was wearing at that moment. It goes up three and back two if that makes sense. No tucking under anything (which is nice).

To me it seems a little thick. I am going to play around in the shop one of these days and see if I can do it differently to get the same look and not be so thick.

That was like my second time doing any lacing. Having only done the 3 ring binder a year ago. I still have a lot to learn about it yet and it seems to take forever to do one. I think I have about 13 hours in just on the lacing for that belt. Does that sound about right or am I just really slow?

I like the look of it also. But if that's how long it takes I don't know how I could turn a profit on them.

Do you have any suggestions on how to speed up the process?

Thanks again

Will

Hi storm,

Yes they do love them and that is payment enough for me. They are showing them off to everyone. Now if everyone would just place an order I'd be doin even better! Lol. All in do time I guess.

Thank you for your kind words.

Hi Will...I am sure you are going to get some orders. Know what you mean though. When I make something for my family or friends and they really love it...well it makes it worth while!  Besides when any of us creates something with our own two hands then when give a part of ourselves.
