  1. Do you have a cutting mat with a grid? I find it a big help to get two edges parallel with each other - just lay the one you've already cut up against a line, then line up the ends of the ruler with another. Make sure you are above so the parallax effect doesn't stuff you up.
  2. I made my bifold out of leather somewhere in the 1.8-2mm region. It has one bill slot and one card slot on each side. So a total of 3 layers or 6 when folded. It is chunky - feels like you could take an eye out with a corner. But it's not ridiculous. I get about 4 cards in each card pocket. Only trouble I have is it can be hard to get the corners of bills down into the bill slot.
  3. I would request access to the members only adult section and ask in there - lots of people working on such items.
  4. Thanks for your help. I went and bought an "economy" 1" punch. It seems to work OK for the small number of belts I have been making.
  5. I want to make a 1.5" belt with the threaded double ring friction style buckle, but I am wondering what's the thickest leather I can reliably use for this. There are plenty of canvas/soft leather belts out there, but can I use a 9/10oz tooling leather? Just looking for others' experiences before I go ahead and ruin a belt blank.
  6. I like the one-sided gusset for the coin pouch, I will have to try that out.
  7. I have two vertical planks (about 1x4) held together with a spring clamp, that sits between my knees. I punch holes ahead of time
  8. He sure is a friend, that price seems a steal
  9. How much does a genuine hide run yiu, just outta curiosity?
  10. Hello friends I am making a few 1.5" belts and I need to get a punch for the tongue slot. What size is most versatile?
  11. Where are the credit card slots?!?!
  12. Looking great! I'm a fan of your stuff, please keep posting. Is that black bifold 4/5 veg tan as well? Lot of layers of leather there - is it very chunky.
  13. Thanks, I ended up sharpening up a few things on the drill press with a sanding drum. My edge beveller was made out of a tiny 2-prong fruit fork. Doing OK so far though certainly not high carbon steel. I've got some good steel in the garage from my knifemaking days but this was a hell of a lot easier!
