  1. Your right , it's a 226, sold in 1979 for $790...the receipt was in the draw.
  2. I have a Chandler C267 and a Corsew 266. I have an opportunity to trade one of these two machines for a Corsew 227 cylinder arm machine. All machines work as required and are in very good condition. Right now I'm using 2-6 oz leather for projects. Some projects can be done on the Chandler bed machine, but then other times I could use a cylinder arm machine. However, I don't need 2 bed machines.... Which one do I keep? I assume having 2 Corsew's makes more sense than 2 different makes. Whats your expert advise?
  3. OK, ...I'll try that........thanks for the reply
  4. I have a Chandler C267....and the manual. However, I can not locate any info on what this machine is capable of sewing or what needles and thread to use. I would like to be able to sew two pieces of leather together that are 4-5 oz ea. I've been trying using #69 nylon thread but it sheds at the needle eye and breaks...
  5. The 29K51 timing was off, that issue has been repaired by a local sewing machine shop in Peoria,IL. Cleaning and repair was $130.00. No parts were replaced. I think $130.00 was on the high side.
  6. Thanks Bob for the info, if you have a used electric leather machine that would work for my projects mentioned in my main post,@$800 or less , please contact me. boilernspector@yahoo.com Thanks Wizcraft for your input, I'll get that baby cleaned up asap.
  7. I purchased a Singer 29K51 but haven't located a really good manual on operation, maintainance, parts or specs on what this machine can actually sew or thread size to use. Does someone have a link where I can buy a manual described above? Maybe someone can tell me if this machine is worth using or should I use it as a paper weight and purchase an electric leather sewing machine? I'm a novice leathercrafter, making belts, wallets, checkbooks for now, I do plan on making motorcycle seats, chaps and asscessories later on and repairing horse tack, maybe harness rigging but no saddle work. It looks like the Techsew 2700 would be the perfect all around machine, but to expensive for this novice What other used machines would qualify equally or close to the Techsew 2700 for around $800-$1000 ?? I did read all the info posted by Wizcraft on leather machines. Very interesting and informative.
