Shipping to Houston TX, and please post photographs of the machine in detail . . . . thanks. IS it possible to sew lighter materials for packs, bags, etc. with needle/thread changes, as well as holsters, etc. as the machine was designed to do?

I see no reason that it shouldn't be able to do lighter materials as the description says. I have only sewn tack and heavy leather on it but it has several places to adjust tension on upper and lower threads and presser foot, needles are easy to change out and the feeder dogs have the ability to be moved up or down depending on what you want to do. The thread stand has places for more than one type of thread and the machine is easy to thread and has a bobbin winder. If you have specific questions I would call Raphael Sewing and see if it they know if you can sew that on it.

The photos that I have are too large to allow them to be posted on here, I have created a page on my website where you can see them. If I resize them they are too small and grainy to see the detail of the machine. http://www.legacyleatherco.com/techsew3650hd.html

I will work on getting a shipping quote, I may need your actual zip code though.

I have a Techsew 3650 HD and have used it to sew lighter material, as well as holsters, belts, etc. It was my first machine. ( have a second for light material such as double layer 1-1/2 to 2-3 oz). The smallest needle I use is the 23 with 69 thread. I usually use a 160 thread, sometimes double stitching. The machine is easy to follow for double stitching. I have tried a 19 needle, but got skipped stiches, and was not wanting to take the trouble to readjust/retime for it, as I mostly use it for 2x or 3x 8-10 oz. I am very happy with it and have had/used it for 3 years. Got sidetracked- I have used it for wallets, if I am looking for the "heavier stitched look" and then 2x stitch with the 160 thread. If you use it for lighter material and will only single-stitch,, be aware that you will have the 23-sized stitch holes.

Reduced? Did I miss something? I thought it was originally $1250.

It was 1250 plus shipping which was indicated that it would be 350-400 which would make it a total of at least 1600. So it has actually been reduced.
