Anyone ever tried to build their own treeless saddle or have any idea how?I am educating myself on saddle making and this is one thing I am curious about! Thanks in advance!

As for me : i do not see "treeless saddle" with a good eye

because it does cause big troubles for the horses in general (contrary to the commercial speech)

and does "fit" so few horses and is "ok" in so few circumstances....that it is not a good investment and can't be "advised"

in a nutshell = you better go ride "bareback" rather than with a treeless saddle (especially a western one) , you will less hurt your horse

a treeless saddle is as bad as a regular saddle which does not fit a horse

just my 2 cents.....maybe someone will have another point of view to share...

I can only speak from my own experience. So far, in the past ten years or so, I have had at least half a dozen folks come to me because they had horses that were a little out of the norm in conformation, and were having problems with their horses soring up when they used conventional saddles that did not fit well. These people had then bit on the sales pitch that treeless saddles would cure their ills. WRONG!!!! They spent the money for new treeless saddles and then were stuck with them and their horses were still sore. Eventually they came to me and had saddles made that fit and so far, I have yet to have one come back and complain. They all will tell you that treeless saddles aren't worth it.

I have opted to try a treed saddle first.I do have to disagree that treeless are all bad.under the right rider, they are a benefit.I run barrel horses and I do feel they have their place.I do appreciate your input though, even if we slightly disagree
