  1. Hullo! I hope I have posted this on the right board .... I am looking for a greyish - silver hair on cowhide but I haven't been so successful so I was wondering if I could do it on my own. If anyone has any tips or suggestion do let me know. At the moment I am very tempted to just bleach the whole thing and dying it using hair dye for human ..... help me before I screw up! Thank you!
  2. I guessed as much TwinOaks ..... well more elbow grease for me then. Will let you know how well it turns out. Looks like wearing white dresses is out while trying to carry that bag Athy
  3. So I finally dyed my python bag ( which was brown ) black and it turned out nice. I used Fiebing's leather dye and used it as as per the instructions. Problem is, I don't know how long I have to continue buffing out the excess. I did do it for a few days but I still get these blackish hues on my fingers my when I use the bag! Is there anything I can do to remove it quickly and even completely? I've read that some people apply finishes to leather but of the ones I have read about it will give out a matte, satiny or high sheen result. Since I have been buffing my bag quite a bit, it has this really nice sheen which I don't really want to ruin and I don't want it to have more sheen than it already has. Another question I have is, if I use some sort of finish on the python, would it take to being conditioned? I am only asking because in my head, the finish would kind of 'cover' the leather and then the conditioner wouldn't be abloe to penetrate through? I hope you guys can help! Athy
  4. Hello! I am almost embarrassed to say I am a newbie ( and a housewife at that! ) but I do adore what you guys have done and how the community seem to be very helpful, so I thought I'd post my questions here. Do pardon my jargon as I don't really know the proper names or ways to describe my question. I have a snakeskin handbag, python if I am not wrong judging by the scale pockets. It's a light golden brown in color and has a gloss finish to it. I want to make it black - completely with a nice satiny finish so the scale pockets still shows when it catches the light. My question is, how do I even start re-coloring it? I am in Australia by the way and reading the forums here, everyone seems to favour Fiebing and Eco-Flo, both of which are not readily available here. But we do have Leather Strippers and Dyes and I was wondering if that would be okay to use. Here's the website of the products I was thinking of using! My link I do hope you guys and girls can help! It's going to be an exciting time for me! Athy
