Wild Bunch/ Bbq Rigs

Recommended Posts

I wish I could get more time to post here, between the ranch and shop there's not enough hours in a day. Someday I hope to get more work out of my teenager, if he can find time around rodeos, girls and high school.

Here are a couple that I have done

The first is a 1911 rig from Herman Oak, Tandy background stamp and Barry King border stamp. It was did dyed with Feblings Lt Brown dye and neatsfoot oiled

The second is a tooled 1911 rig. The leather is also Herman Oak, neatsfoot oiled and Feblings antique applied. I am still struggling in drawing my own floral patterns and this is the first one done from the new pattern. I see some changes that need to be made before the next one is done.

I would welcome any comments that will help me progress and improve my leather working

Thanks Bobby

Both are very nice rigs - I REALLY like that clipped corner buckle.

Ranch... Shop... Herman Oak leather.... beautiful leatherwork... I'm so dang jealous!! I have none of those!

Great work- from where I sit, your need for improvement is in your eyes only; I think your work is wonderful.

Fantastic work. Very impressive tooling and stamping. Your use of the backgrounder as a primary tool is very creative and it looks great.

Bobby,

Those are both great looking rigs. Your work is so nice I'm hesitant to offer much critical feedback but since there is always room for improvement and you asked, here goes...

On the first rig, I think the mag pouch would look better if it had the same double cut border as the belt and holster.

On the second, I like your floral pattern quite a bit but the backgrounder impressions are pretty distinct, I don't know if you could walk that tool a little more to blend them better or not.

All in all they both look very well done, great job! Hopefully with winter coming on you'll have more time to post pictures, I'd like to see more of your work.

Best regards,

Josh

I REALLY like that clipped corner buckle.

You can get one of those buckles from Tandy for $9. I like it too, it's going on my next belt (for myself)

Thanks for the comments. Josh all the time looking at the one rig I never did catch the fact that I did not double line the mag pouch. Using the bar grounders has been one of the roughest tools to learn to use

I will try to post pictures of a couple more hosters this week.

Thanks

Boby
