So You Think You've Had An Original Design Idea?

Recommended Posts

Guaranteed somebody else got there first...

I had a 'eureka' moment, combining my like for all things 'original' Star Wars and my new fondness for leather... A Stormtrooper!

How disappointing, whilst coooool to see the possibility.

You can still put your own spin on it

White leather would look cool!!

Oh yeh totally... How cool would a full outfit be!

I like the look of that colour, though - Would be like a Star Wars Roman Legionaire!

You gotta go for it.....and show lots of pics!

On another topic, I am in Canada with Scottish background; was just looking at some leather working courses in Scotland. Any thoughts?

Hi, the link seems to show a place in England...

Looking at the prices - £440 for a 3 day course - Whilst i'm sure i'd learn lots of valuable technique, I can buy loads of leather and tools for that kind of money.

Forums like this and online tutorials seem good enough for novices like myself, at least until I find out if it's worthwhile investing more money in.

But yeh... Stormtrooper... :cowboy:

I think we are very lucky to have Internet and a forum like this, it is plenty to learn from. Without it I certainly don't think I would have been able to learn the trade. I pretty much read the whole forum when I started. I often say that I'm "self taught" but really that isn't the case at all, I had no hands on training but I learned and still learn from those who shared their knowledge on the forum. I went a while without reading or posting but I never felt good about just taking information so now I try to help when I can.

Whoops, must have been another one in Scotland -Aero Leather jackets that was what I was looking at but not a course.

Ya good points. I have learned tons here and in books.

You never know how a hands on face to face teacher will be..... If they are too "my way or highway" then forget it, my personality doesn't allow that and I tune out. Show me some stuff, teach me your ways and I will incorporate what I like and can use in my hands.

If I ever do get to go on a European Vacation, my wife wants to do a cooking course in Tuscany and I could do some leather stuff somewhere???

I have the luxury that this is all for fun, not a job
