  1. Having worked 44years in Nature Conservation I can tell you pangolin are "on their way out" - and Chinese are involved in illegal trade/export on many endangered species of animals and plants (mainly trees/timber) in Africa. Please do not buy or use leather from them. Pangolin appear in schedule ii of the CONVENTION ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE IN ENDANGERED SPECIES OF WILD FAUNA AND FLORA and as such may not be traded without the necessary permits.
  2. pig skin makes a good tough lining. I use white glue (PVA) glue in large areas and contact cement for smaller areas. I generally glue and stitch.
  3. Well, if four years is not too late! What I found using glover's needles is that you can use a saddle stitch by sliding one needle along the "flat' on the other needle. To do this you partly penetrate the leather with one needle and lay the point of the other on one of its flat surfaces while the first needle is still in the leather. You then slide the second needle through so that both needles are in the leather at the same time sticking through the same hole. Then pull through (try to avoid leaving blood marks on the leather!!).
