  1. Gotcha. I had seen a thread on here previous about people modding these bench grinders for burnishing wheels and have had great results even at 3600 rpms
  2. Hello all! I am looking for a specific leather burnishing wheel. Ive got a Ryobi 6" bench grinder on which I removed the wheels down to just the 1/2" arbor. I am looking for a cocobolo wheel I could attach to one side, and a sanding wheel to the other. I don't have the tools or experience necessary to create my own, so I was wondering if anyone here could help me out. The arbor is threaded at the end, so not sure if theres a way a wheel could be created that could be threaded on. Is it also possible to order the replacement burnishing wheel/sanding wheel from Weaver thats used for their pro edge slicker? Would those fit a 1/2" arbor? Any help would be appreciated thanks!
  3. Hello all! Not sure if this goes here, but worth a shot! I am looking for a specific leather burnishing wheel. Ive attached pics of the grinder and arbor.
  4. Hey all! Thanks for the responses! I have used Black River a few times in the past and absolutely have been satisfied with Joyce's work. What I am more looking for is someone who is able to create stencils, which have the design cut out of them so I could overlay them on an item and trace a design on the material. I checked with Joyce and she is not able to create what I'm looking for. Anyone have anyone else? Thanks!
  5. Ya thats what I was afraid of. I ordered stuff in the past and it was a great response and quick turnaround. However I tried to see if I could get this done a while ago and got no response! Im sure it was something rare since Joyce is such an awesome person to work with.
  6. So I have been looking for a person/company to create some small plastic stencils/templates for me. Some of them would be used for leather, others would be used for something else. These would be very small, and I simply need a lasered stencil in 1/8" thick plastic. Is there ANYONE out there that knows someone/does this? Been looking everywhere! Thanks in advance!
  7. Hey all! So I've been sort of banging my head against a wall trying to get a good burnishing technique figured out. Ive tried Bob Parks method, and my results have gotten better, just not what I want. I've noticed that when I wet the edge, then slick it with my cocobolo burnishing dremel wheel I get a decent glass edge, (that is if I actually do it right and don't use too much friction and burn the edge!) However, I am still trying to get a consistently glassy edge. My question however is though, is that after I burnish the edges with water, I trying dyeing them next with Fiebings alcohol dye. The dye seems to be very transparent and not very opaque. Any tips on post-burnish dyeing and/or burnishing tips in general would be helpful. Thanks!
  8. Hey all! I have attached a photo of something Ive seen, and looking if anyone knows where I could purchase one/get measurements to make one. It looks like a wooden slotted belt runner to place the strap for dyeing. You can see it in the photo attached Anyone know where to get one/measurements for making one? Thanks!
  9. Hey all! Had some questions about burnishing/dyeing belt edges. Here goes! 1) I have a cocobolo dremel burnisher, and have read that Bob Park uses a piece of canvas attached to his burnishing wheel. What would be the best way to attach some of this to mine to allow for an even wrap? I have heavy canvas patches from Sprinfield. He also states that he saturates that canvas with saddle soap. Im assuming just rub it into the canvas once its attached correct? 2) Regarding edgers, I currently am using a keen edge beveler. While it cuts nicely, I notice the edges are somewhat triangular, and Id like perfectly round edges. Anyone recommend a different type of edger to achieve this? Thanks all!
  10. I had purchased a Keen edge beveler from Tandy to bevel the edges of my belts. I had purchased another beveler (can't remember the size) for edges, but it leaves them rather triangular, and I want something rounded. Any specific size or beveler I should get to achieve this? All of my belts are 1.5" Hermann Oak strips purchased from Springfield leather. Thanks!
  11. hey all, been looking for this brass hardware wholesale, preferably American made. Anyone know where I can find them besides ebay?
  12. Ive been looking for American made watch buckles at wholesale prices everywhere. Anyone have a link? Simple center bar brass buckles.
  13. Ive been looking everywhere for a printable pattern for something like this. Also, how do you make the side pieces to be sewn in a cylindrical way as seen in the photo? Does anyone have a printable pattern for something like this i could then modify?
  14. My apologies. It would basically just be simple things like wallets, small clutches, etc. Nothing large. The largest thing it would be used for would be canvas bags will some leather trim.
  15. Hey all, So I am in the market for a used machine. Below are some I have been looking at and would love your feedback http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/app/4435454478.html http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/hvo/4389689661.html http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/art/4409158721.html
