  1. I was looking at this same knife because of the sale as well. I know the difference quality makes so I'll invest in a really good one and save myself some frustration. I highly value your advice, thank you!
  2. How hard is it to remove a rapid rivet? And what methods do you use? I'm making some armor and I'd like to put it together just to see how it works so I'm wondering if I can do some riveting and undo it later if it doesn't work so well. Thank you.
  3. Thanks. So do you just mix the rubbing alcohol/spirit with the die before applying it to the leather? And I read on the bottle that you're supposed to apply neatsfoot oil onto the leather first, is this necessary and can you use other oil types like cooking oil?
  4. I got a "light blue" dye from Tandy, I was informed it would still be very dark but it could be thinned. So I'm wondering how one goes about thinning an oil based dye. I have the Fiebings Leather Dye. Can I just use paint thinner or is it is more complicated than that? Thanks.

    Border for armor

I bought this bracer and now I'm into making my own armor now. I was looking for border ideas and I like this one but I don't know what he would have used. I'm guessing it's a rotary stamp because I can't see a seam. I'm looking for something a beginner could do. I thought about putting this into the reenactment section but borders aren't really armor specific. To give you some background on my experience: I made a leather bracer as my first project, I'm fairly new to leather but I think I know the basics now. I have started on an armor project, I'm making a breastplate and I'm onto the tooling stage.
