Well, I know this is quite simple but I could not find one to copy from for my new iphone 4 so I made it. I traced out the phone in a block of wood, cut it out then sanded smooth. Then cut out a ring to fit over the mold allowing a 7-8 oz leather to fit around the mold. (it was the only leather I had, I make gun holsters and belts) I let is sit overnight to dry. I noticed a little mildew on the leather for the first time ever. (did I wet the leather too much) No biggie I was going to dye it any way. I lined the front side so back of snap would not touch the phone glass. Stamped, Stitched, dyed, finished.

I was not sure that it would fit properly since the tandy kit is made for multiple size phones. If you have the iphone 4 let us know how it fits!

Ok, I'm lazy too and do not want to hand stitch. They are usually pre-punched stitching holes. Is this one?

Whenever i make holsters for phones i need to cut each corner so i can get the leather to attach all the way around. how do you do it without having to cut slots in each corner? do you know what i mean?

I think I understand you. This is a mold method. You are not going to get the same results trying to do this by hand. When you use a block of wood simulating the phone and then having another block of wood with a hole cut out just larger than simulated phone, (allowing for the weight of leather you are using) Case the leather, set on top of your simulated phone, press the leather between both pieces of wood, and clamp 'til dry. Glue the edges, stitch then trim the excess. Leave enough leather to fit under your presser foot on sewing machine unless you are hand stitching. It makes for nice clean lines.

Anyone have a estimate of what I could sell these for?

Rob, Nice job. And good discriprion.

I wouldn't be bashful about about $50 if that's how you're making them.

It looks worth that or more.

I think it is SUPER!!

I have been wanting to make one for my phone.

I would like to put a heavier belt clip, heavier than Tandy of some of the knive supply places sell. Does anyone have an idea where I could find these?

These folks might have what you need. Give them a call, they have a lot of product to go through and they can help you narrow the selection.
