  1. I've been trying to get a hold of someone at Ron's tools to place an order for about a week...are they still in business? I've left phone and email messages but have not heard back.
  2. No, the existing cover was done more like upholstery, meaning that it was wrapped across the top then underneath and riveted in place, so it's not much help. What I want to do is make tooled top and bottom pieces and then saddle them together all around the edge.
  3. I'm making a seat for a friend, its a fairly simple seat pan with 3/4" padding...its a solo springer seat with a bit of contour at the front. Does anyone have any advise for making a template for my top and bottom leathers? Oh and if it makes a difference this seat will be saddle stitched not laced. I'm not new to leatherwork, but this will be my first padded seat...I appreciate the help!
  4. Some of my work
  5. I've finished the passenger door panel for my 49 chevy pickup....22 hours of tooling, and I have to do it all again for the drivers door!
  6. Since this is my first post I'd like to start by saying hello, and that I am very impressed with everyones work! Now to the point...I've dug through the forum and have seen alot of different methods of finishing leather, and now my head is spinning trying to figure out the best products to use, let alone the order in which to use them! Leatherwork has been a hobby of mine for a while, and now people are starting to ask me to make things for them. Since my work is for other people now I want to step up my game and give them a professional long lasting finish! I'm a biker myself and plan to make a solo seat for my ducati (more to come on that later!) We all know our gear has to take a lot of abuse with sunlight, rain, oil, etc! So what products and steps do you all use to finish your seats?
