BillBailey Report post Posted April 15, 2012 Looking for supplier of spiral cut lace. Yikes, my supplier went out of business and finding someone that makes high-quality spiral cut lace on 25-yard spools is pretty difficult if seems. Tandy-type lace doesn't meet my spec or standard. I make custom braided mandolin, ukulele and parlor guitar straps (and a few wrist bands). Not trying to promote myself, but perhaps peaking at my website will help: http://www.thebaileystrap.com/. I'm in a bit of a panic and need a source for six-seven-ounce, 1/8-inch-wide top grain cowhide lace in black, brown, rust and sienna. The splices have to be at least 22-feet apart. I braid using one continuous length of lace. I use about 300, 25-yard spools a year. My gratitude for any help. Bill Bailey Freeland, MI
electrathon Report post Posted April 15, 2012 Try y-knot-lace They have kangeroo. My guess is if you want quality and are not using kangeroo it is only because you jave not used it. Far and above the quality of cow. Aaron
BillBailey Report post Posted April 15, 2012 Thanks, Aaron, good idea, I should give 'roo another try. I worry that it's not hefty/beefy like seven-ounce cow. Hard to tell from the pix if the 'roo is very thick. Seems my customers like the fuzzy suede side of cow lace that clings to their shoulder. Gives them a solid playing platform and all that. I'll contract the y-knotlace folks. Interesting site. Bill

BillBailey Report post Posted April 15, 2012 Hi Luke, Your offer to spiral cut lace is attractive. I like it. I've never bought full hides -- and fret about colors. Perhaps I'm merely afraid of the unknown. And, of course, costs are pretty important. My margins aren't great. I was paying $14 per 25-yard spool of 6-7-ounce and I bought about 100 at a time. Hard to figure costs given the yield from a hide. All that is above my rank. I'd like to noodle. My gratitude for your offer and guidance. Bill
