Attention Leather Workers In The Ar And Mo Area

Recommended Posts

Hello my name is Amy and I have the leather shop in the Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View, AR. I am a second generation Leather worker. Basically grew up helping dad in his leather shop.

Anyway I am looking for a person or persons who would like to put some of their work in my shop to sell. (Subject to my and the Craft Directors approval) Currently I am to overwhelmed with ill family to do any more than the basic tourist stuff. I have belts, wallets, purses, key chains and leather knick knack items etc. that I personally keep in stock. I've been asked to carry knife sheaths and gun holsters but to be totally honest those things don't interest me and as I stated I have all the work I can handle. If you make other items that you would like to sell also That would be fine as long as they meet approval. However I do think it is best to aviod having like items by different artist in the shop tends to confuse the customers. If you think you might be interested please either leave a comment here or email me at dogwoodleather@gmail.com. Items would be placed in my shop on commission 15% (10% goes to the Park and 5% to my shop) sorry I'm not at all interested in purchasing items wholesale. Also I get asked the "Can you make.........?" and "Do you take orders...?" questions everyday. I would love to pass these people on to some of you folks. For example I have a fella who wants a holster for a 9mm. If I had a list of some of you that did types of items I don't and some business cards to give to these people. I could refer them to you.

Thanks

Amy

It is an awesome opportunity! This is my 3rd year at the Ozark Folk Center . It is a rather awesome place in it's own right... dedicated to keeping a lot of hands on crafts and folk music alive. I ended up there sorta by chance and have loved it. I'm not paid by the Park. I contract to demo and sell there and pay them 10% of my monthly sales as rent. It's a pretty cool agreement. I did about $15,000 in gross "Park" sales last year which isn't bad when one considers the Park is closed pretty much all winter and then the craft grounds are only open 4 days a week during most of the season.

There is great potential for even more sales but I am only one person and can only do so much. I did have my fathers assistance for the past two years but his health has declined greatly over the past several months. My husband tries to help but he has his challenges ( he was in a trucking accident 3 yrs ago that has left him sorta disabled). Anyway that is why I posted.

I think I need to mention again this offer is mainly for people in Arkansas and Missouri areas. I would love to tell everyone that they can sell in my shop but I have certain restrictions that the Park has in place that I must abide by. However That said seriously if some of you will send business cards and a list of your specialties People come in from all over the country and world and there is always someone looking for someone to make what ever they need or want and I will gladly refer them to whoever is either the nearest to them or does the type of work they are needing.

Thanks for all the interest.

Amy

Hi Amy

Justf looking around for people on the site around Missouri to talk with. I found you when the search came up with you first on the list. i have been doing leather only as a hobby for 33 yrs. i have tried just about everything except a saddle. It seems holsters are coming around again. I do 3-4 craft shows a year, with one in Mount Vernon Missouri. I am not sure where Mountain Home is but i think it is south of there. I have a few items on the show off or critique section if you want to look. I really like doing bible covers and album covers but sell lots of little items at the shows. i don't know how the commission and tax thing works, like i said i only do a few shows and they hand out the tax sheet for Missouri. i can be reached by email at crafttleather@gmail.com if you wish to email some time.

thanks

craftt

Cindy
