Mom's funeral

Recommended Posts

I had to go to Mom's funeral, and had to stop and see some people whom had not meet. They had helped my Mom out and I made a portfolio for him years ago. Just his school mascot and a copy of his nick name by his own hand. I had not thought about it for years, but he thanked me, and said all the other teachers wanted one. This was so special to him, and was something he would all ways cherish. Who knew a few feet of leather could bring such happiness.

Oscar, please accept my sympathies for the loss of your mother.

When my husband John died, in his things I found a wallet that he had made for his father, who passed away in the 70s. It was one of the first projects he ever did, and his dad obviously cherished the wallet. His mom said she gave it to John as a keepsake, and he did keep it, for nearly 30 years. It's not his best work, but I saved it along with his other things for our children, when they are older, because it meant so much to him.

Again, I am sorry about your Mom. May God's hand rest on your family's shoulder during this difficult time.

Johanna

I'm also sorry to hear of your loss. God grant you peace at this tough time.

I have a similar leather experience: I made my father, who was a school teacher (is retired now) a briefcase back in 1990, with his initials and oak leaves on it. This was really when I was first getting back into leatherwork after an almost 10 year hiatus. He still has it and refuses to let me make him a new one! Every time the case breaks, he has me take the old panel off and put it on a new one. He says all the teachers and others who see it want one! Meanwhile, I'm thinking "gosh I could do better now!"
