Wiz..I did ask him via his fb page, its around the same as my highlead as per thickness..., will keep my eyes peeled , these machines are rare in my area....finally got the highlead to run happily along , its now a great machine!....thanks Wiz.

Hi Wiz......1/4 " is not any more than my highlead sews..thanks for that information...sounds like the Cowboy will do almost anything you can throw at it...by the way , I rang Darren at Bonnys locker in Australia, I bought his poly thread, no more skipping or uneven stitches, and bought a roller guide..best item so far...very very nice guy and great service....thanks also to your sound advice....my work is looking far more professional.

Hi ..Any opinions on the singer 29K15? Are needles etc easily available and whats the max thickness is it capable of...can I make boots with it? Or am I dreaming...? Thanks all

Tried another m40 thread - grey.......tension issue gone..........any ideas?....maybe its less springy than original thread.-brown....idk...weird

Sorry GC22618-8B....can never remember off by heart. Am already thinking of something that sews much heavier leather....have peaked the thickness with this one already...poor machine. yes your right Wiz..bonded nylon..M40.. can you suggest a different thread thats as durable. im new to this so any info would be greatly appreciated. Will get bigger needle......over in Australia not many people in my area have any idea or access to anything leather! Takes a week to get anything in the mail.....the best state Victoria for leathercraft items is over 2000kms away.., so I have to order everything online.... Anyway thats life in Australia sometimes. Hi Constabulary.....thanks for your quick reply, im very pleased......i did try the bobbin tension idea.......did actually go to a smaller needle size cos the needle a #22 was punching through the bottom......the smaller needle fixed that issue.........would a larger needle , ie would a #24 be ok for a highlead GC2218-B8?.......im more keen to get a good stitch then worry about a punching effect.regards

Hi everyone , I have an issue with my machine stitching badly when working on this hard black leather I have, its been fine with softer , same thickness hide , but this hard leather is causing the stitch to meet on the lower side.......not uptaking the lower thread to meet in the middle.....I am using the same needle etc as with other hides that have caused no issues.....have tried adjusting upper tension to more tighter tension....no change...........any ideas please?....will increasing pressure foot help?

Ugh..what a day!.......ended up being all that was suggested!...the upper thread tension was so loose and the uptake spring wasnt working properly.......the jamming caused the feed dog to loosen slightly.....caused needle issues.......skipped the timing ....also the pressure foot was seriously too light.........now its sewing after many hours and a capable other half......I m so appreciative of the skillful people that have helped me Thanks..I now have that bit more know how bout this machine....am going to buy new feed dog and needle plate and then new walking foot....thanks guys

Thanks everyone.I feel very lucky to be receiving terrific help so quickly......its a bleakish rainy Sunday here today...perfect time to work this thing out!....this thick thread is very springy....and the presser foot was definetly tampered with by myself in haste , so thanks all..will let you know tonight if Ive prevailed...I have a comission job to do ...

Not the needle bar height , no.....will check it out in the morning.....its bringing the bobbin thread up, so timing mustnt be too bad.....did read slight retard of the timing can cause thread issues......will gear up for some fiddling tomorrow......thanks Constabulary

Can anyone please help...have a highlead GC22618-8B....it was sewing well with a T40 thread....put a T20 on it with a 2.5mm hide.......it was fine for an interior pocket on a tote.....I had also fiddled with presser foot cos it was marking hide with two layers of this hide...then I went to overstitch one layer of the hide, and hey presto ...jamming.every time...the thread is coming up back through the walking foot as well as bunching underneath!,, any ideas..I have cleaned bobbin casing...rethreaded and oiled it....it seems to be picking up bobbin thread fine...renewed and double checked needle....even gone back to thinner thread..still doing the same! Is it tension or timing...excuse the metric , Im in Australia..best Regards

Damn...sorry folks....have been in hospital briefly and ill.....I got them 10 for $8.50......thanks to all of your fine help....im getting truly set up now!
