Thinning Barge Cement

Recommended Posts

I'm looking on some tips for thinning Barge cement. My local Tandy's only sells a generic thinner which they say will work but other folks have warned me against. Even if it does work I would have to buy a litre which is a little pricey and is a lot of thinner that I'll have around for a long time. Does anyone have experience with thinning with other materials that might be available to me locally in smaller quantities?

Thanks

I just bought a quart of Barge's thinner for about $13.00 --- I use it for thinning the Barge's cement, cleaning brushes, separating old glued items, etc...

Slightly off topic, but do you have good results with Barge's?

I have used it for years, and have no issues with the results... I use the original formula in the red and yellow can.

My local tandy is having problems just getting the barge cement in

Something about the manufacturer blah blah shipment didn't come idk

Wonder if I can get it at lowes or menards?

Ps I love this stuff don't know how I ever did without

When sewing gussets around a corner with my machine no slipping ! It's great

But really messy
