any reason not to remove this stop screw in the 441

Recommended Posts

I've asked this question before in the middle of another thread, but thought I'd give it center stage here.

Is there anything terrible waiting to happen if I remove this one particular stop screw in the clamping block that holds the center presser foot bar and allows for adjustment? I've removed it to allow the center foot to descend all the way to the surface of my slotted needle plate, which sits a bit lower than does the standard blanket foot needle plate that came stock on my machine.

The screw in question is not very visible in the attached pic, but it is the stop screw in the lower red circle.

Thanks,

ed
