What Stamp Is This And Who Makes It?

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to find the maker of a stamp that makes this impression without any success.

It is one of the many discontinued Craftool stamps that Tandy used to sell. I still have my set of 3 (different sizes) but they are the version with the star in the center section. The circle appearance is achieved through the stamp placement only and not actually a part of the stamp design itself. I am not aware of anyone who sells them anymore, not even under one of the lesser copy-cat brands. If you have a Tandy store nearby maybe give them a call. They frequently find old tools sitting in their warehouse or storage areas that are what would be referred to as Vintage and they typically sell them for a buck a piece.

To me it looks a lot like a stamp made by Wayne Jueschke. There are a couple different sizes. You can google his name and see his stamps. If you call they'll send you a pamphlet of his stamps.

Thanks. I'll try to find one at the Tandy store I visit most often. You wouldn't happen to have the stamp numbers handy would you?

The set with the star in the center is G9009-03, -02, and -01; there was a set that had crosshatching that was G9011-03, -02, and -01. Hope that helps.

I have a set of the ones from Tandy like the design you show. I will have to go down to the shop and see what the number is. Like LNV said those are discontinued. However they do still list a set except for a design in the center they are basicaly the same. https://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/69008-00.aspx

I scanned Wayne Jueschke's pamphlet that I got from him. Check out #123, 127, 128.

The prices are not for the faint of heart. They run anywhere from $40-175.

Those would be the ones that the OP is looking for. That pamphlet carries a lot of designs that have long been discontinued from the Craftool line. I am assuming that the Jueschke tools are made from high grade stainless steel. At those prices they better be and they also better be made personally by him.

They are indeed made personally and individually by Wayne Jueschke outside Elko, NV. He is a one man shop and a heck of a good guy. They are not stainless and I believe are made from "stress proof" steel but not 100% sure on that. His stamps are crisp and detailed - my favorite geometrics and flower centers. One of my friends did production work with Wayne's early stamps designs and you could pass them off as new condition stamps today.

Thanks. I'll have to decide what tool I want to spend my scarce $$ on. I do need to call Jueschke and find the price.

Guess I am going to have to look him up. He is just 3 hours up the highway from me so I can maybe take a day trip up there and spend some time just hanging out with some other friends that I have in Elko. Thanks for the tip on the quality of his tools.

I'm going to second Bruce Johnson's comments about Wayne Juschke's stamps. I have several of his geometrics and I think they are the best out there with maybe the exception of Robert Beard. I love the ones I have and try to buy a couple every year.

Thanks, guys. I decided to bite the bullet and buy the stamp from Wayne and now I'm practicing with it. It's great!

I'll post some after I get caught up with some holster orders. January has been a record month for me.

I used the stamps I bought on a scrap piece of pre-dyed belt leather. Two different Jueschke stamps and two different borders.
