  1. I order mine direct from Rings. When I e-mailed them directly John Ring responded to my e-mails within minutes! Make sure to order them without the final finish because it will bleed onto the leather. I got mine in a week.

    Bag Punch

I just ordered mine at 1 7/8" X 7/16" from Texas Dies. Nice people and the price was not bad either. It should be here in about a week! Can't beat that.

    Bag Punch

I'm looking for a bag punch to cut belt slots in my holsters. I want one that is approx 1 7/8" X 3/8" or even 7/16". I called Weaver, Zack White, Barry King (who referred me to someone else who did not have it) Springfield and no luck. Does anyone here have a source for one? I have tried the chisel and round punch method and I can't seem to make the slot as neat and clean as I like it to be. Thanks, Dan.
  5. Your welcome, The Duncan dummies are cast and are kind of rough, but they seem to have a lot of dummies Blue Gun does not offer. I only have the Kimber because Blue Gun does not make it. Blue Gun will make any dummy you like for $300.00 and the use of your weapon for a few weeks! Dan.
  6. Particle, I have a 3" Kimber 1911 Ultra Raptor dummy from Duncan, but it does not have laser grips. You are welcome to use it if you like. Dan.
  7. Nice photo work!!! Thanks for posting. The pictures definitely help, and will come in handy for others in the future! After giving this some more thought and then seeing your pictures, it got me to thinking about what the best type of padding that could be used and how would it be attached? I would think it would need to be easy to clean and maintain after being out in hunting conditions. What do you folks recommend?
  8. Thanks Particle, No need for a picture now. I was over-complicating the whole thing. Someone dropped off a nylon "store bought" sling with all kinds of adjustments and attachments on it that I guess aren't really needed. I guess it's time to get in the shop and start cutting leather! Thanks.
  9. Thanks for the replys everyone. Particle, The picture you posted looks like what I had in mind. How do you adjust the length? Can you post a picture of the way you did it? Thanks, Dan.
  10. I'm looking for the necessary hardware to build a leather rifle sling. I did a search here but did not find what I'm looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Dan.
  11. Great looking work! I just laminated a small piece of the belly to a 6-7 oz cow hide. Contact cement worked great to bond the 2 pieces. Then I tried to do the groove for the stitching and did not have much luck. The alligator is so soft, almost rubber-like so the groover did not really work. Also, the over stitch wheel did not leave an impression behind due to the hide being like rubber. I guess that is why you use it as an inlay! Anyone here have a solution to these challenges? Dan.
  12. A friend has brought me the tanned hide of an alligator he harvested last year. It's the belly section and I can't believe how soft it is to the touch. It has a great feel. My question is this...it is only about a 3-4 oz, to thin to make a holster out of. Is that normal for alligator? Is the hide usually sewn or glued to another hide for holster use? Dan.
  13. George, Nice work on the site! Is that template from Microsoft Live Office website or did you have to tweak it. The reason I ask is my daughter says that the free sites won't do what yours does. I guess seeing is not believing... Anyway it looks and works great. BTW, nice work on the holsters!! Dan.
  14. I have a similar compressor and thought it was over kill as well. In the spirit of saving money, I spent some time yesterday getting it "airbrush ready". I upgraded the air pressure gauges and added a better drier. Did you have any trouble finding the fittings to reduce down from 1/4" fittings on the compressor to the air brush, which I'm guessing is 1/8"?
  15. Scott, Nice looking holsters. I'm new to leather work, but really enjoying it a lot. I've been considering the air brush but your post got me thinking seriously about it. I'm curious which compressor you are using. With my limited net searching this afternoon I found The "H" and "HS" series. I'm would like to get some feed back before I order. Has anyone here ordered from any of these suppliers before? Any recommendations? Dan. http://www.hobbylinc...as/pas2000h.htm http://www.tcpglobal...bdkithsset.aspx http://www.dixieart.com/HSet.html
