First Leatherwork: Dog Collar

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This is my first leatherwork, a collar for my dog.

Leather strap is 3mm thick veg tanned leather dyed with vinegaroon, lining is sheep leather 1,2mm thick, veg tanned and already dyed fawn when bought. It is handstitched.

I'm aware to advices and critique.

Nope, he's having a leash like that collier5-48a3ae9.jpg

The collar is just esthetic and to say the dog has an owner.

One thing I would do is skive the end down where the buckle is attached so it's not as bulky then bring the sheepskin up and skive it as well

That's pretty nice for your first leatherwork. As Rohn said, that is some nice hand stitchin'.

Also like thegafer and Halitech brought up a little skiving, some extra burnishing and topcoating may be something to keep in mind for your next project.

Don't forget to burnish the keeper! But really, that's just secondary. I love how it turned out!
